The VP 530G Round Reservoir
is for keeping cells/beads in uniform suspension so that
equal numbers can be consistently transferred by pipetting.
The reservoir is large enough to accommodate 96 and 384
pipet heads. In addition to the VP 530G Round Reservoir we
have developed a special low profile PTFE stir element for
the VP 530G that
is 120 mm long, 16.66 mm wide and 3.2 mm thick the
VP
772FN-17-120A-150. It is perfect for keeping cells and
beads in suspension while pipetting and keeping the dead
volume to a minimum (85 ml). The
VP 772FN-17-120A-150 low
profile stir element can be sterilized by autoclaving. This reservoir will accommodate
600 ml of liquid and was designed with a rectangular SBS
feature on the bottom which provides an easy and precise way
to locate it on the deck pads of all robotic work stations. |

Some robotic work stations allow you to
place a conventional horizontal magnetic stirrer like the VP
706B3 under the deck and thus drive the Stir Element and in
others like the Beckman FX, have optional horizontal
magnetic stir machines built in.
Unfortunately previous reservoirs used on the Beckman and
PerkinElmer work stations were rectangular and resulted in
cells settling out in the corners where the stir bar
couldn’t reach. This problem is eliminated with the round
design of the VP 530G and the long reach of the
VP
772FN-17-120A-150. |

The VP 530G is made from one piece of
autoclaveable polypropylene. The
VP 772FN-17-120A-150 is
made from one piece of autoclaveable PTFE with four Parylene
encapsulated NdFeB discs (VP 782N-12-150) providing the magnetic coupling to
the magnetic stirrer. We have also installed a glass bead
as a pivot point for the stir element to reduce friction and
prevent damage to the cells. |

The VP 530G-1 Round Reservoir like the VP 530G is for keeping cells/beads in uniform suspension so that equal numbers can be consistently transferred by pipetting. The reservoir is large enough to accommodate 96 and 384 pipet heads. See photo to the right. |

The VP 530G-1 is similar to the VP 530G but it was designed for use on robotic work stations that do not have a magnetic stir plate like the Beckman FX.

Most robotic work stations do not have a magnetic stir plate or at least one that is strong enough to power the stir
elements in the VP 530G-1 so we have built a magnetic stir plate (VP 706D) that has an SBS feature on the bottom that registers it to a deck tile on any robot work station.
See photo to the right. It also has a unique ring structure on top that registers to the bottom of the VP 530G-1 thus conveniently linking and registering the reservoir to the robot
deck. The VP 530G-1 reservoir will accommodate 600 ml of liquid. For more information on the VP 706D see this page - to be done.

In addition to the VP 530G-1 we have developed a special low profile PTFE stir element for the VP 530G-1 that is 120 mm long, 16.66 mm wide and 3.2 mm thick and is powered by 42 MGO NdFeB magnetic discs encapsulated in Parylene (the
VP 772FN-17-120A-150). It is perfect for keeping cells and beads in suspension while pipetting and keeping the dead volume to a minimum (85 ml). The
VP 772FN-17-120A-150 low profile stir element can be sterilized by autoclaving. We have also installed a glass bead as a pivot point for the stir element to reduce friction and prevent damage to the cells.

For more information on these stir elements see this page.
We also have developed a low profile total PTFE stir element for the VP 530G-1 that is 120 mm long, 19.1 mm wide and 5.1 mm thick and is powered by 29 MGO SmCo magnetic discs encapsulated in PTFE (the
VP 772FS-19-120A). It is perfect for keeping cells and beads in suspension while pipetting and keeping the dead volume to 135 ml. The
VP 772FS-19-120A
low profile stir element can be heated up to 300C. See the
photo above. For more information on these stir elements see
this page.
